There is an all forums rule: No Pics, it never happened

Great setup, thanks for the pics, it's making me want to scratch that itch...

Too bad the Asus apps caused Win8 to crash, actually most motherboard apps are known to cause crashes in a lot of systems, not just Win8. Have seen this many times.

If possible, I would find other apps to replace them. It's your preference, of coarse.

There are a lot of threads about the OC'ing heat from IB CPUs, was it noticeable on your board?

I had the same problem when I loaded Asus AI Suite II in Windows 8. It was OK until I had to reboot and then it would crash. I had to delete Windows 8 and re-install from an image. The suite works great in Windows 7.

Heh, pics it is then. Unfortunately, there are three or 4 apps in the suite that I really need to have running so it has to stay. I also am running out of hard drives, 28 TB and I am running out! With another drive I could do a Win8 Boot on it and try different scenarios, dual boot would be disastrous if Win8 crashes bringing my boot drive down.
Since I use air cooling and a (relatively) conservative o/c THERE IS NO HEAT ISSUE WITH IB AT 4.5GHZ OR BELOW. Ivy Bridge is about the same in o/c as was my Sandy Bridge. Both heat up too much above 4.5GHz. I ran my SB at 4.3GHz and it would peak at 65 degrees C. IB at 4.53 hits 70 degrees C occasionally, but it is a higher overclock. I THINK all the fuss is about those guys that use water cooling to really crank up the clock. To add to this, the i7-3770K Ivy Bridge run substantially cooler at its default stock speed than Sandy Bridge.

With the latest ASUS Z77 mobos, they have some amazing stuff built in like SSD caching (IT WORKS! BOOTS FAST!), VirtuMVP (it works!), Auto-Tuning to check for highest, safe overclock, and a built in Wifi broadcaster. I won't sacrifice them for Win8. I will buy another hard drive ( to add the FOUR already in my system!) for booting to Win8.

Thanks for the info on IB OC'ing.
Have seen similar replies elsewhere, it has a bit of extra heat at the high end OCs.
Still planning on a IB upgrade later this year.
