Why do I have to take LINE RENTAL

Hi there

I see all sorts of nice tempting packages for switching ISP's etc -- but if you actually add the stupid LINE RENTAL charges into the mix the value isn't anything like as good as what looks on offer in the first place.

With a decent 4G mobile service I DO NOT NEED any fixed line whatsoever -- and on Fibre-optic cable which isn't using your old phone land line connection why on earth do I have to have LINE RENTAL.

I can understand if you are one of those who still has to use a splitter on a normal phone line for your broadband but surely with Fibre optic direct cable you shouldn't have to take out Line rental at all.

I must have only used my house phone probably about TWO times in the last year. - It seems that this SCAM is universal -- everywhere I've been they insist on "Line Rental;" as part of the package.

The only way to avoid this as far as I can see is to use a Satellite system - but then the catch is the discounts are nothing like the packages on offer via CABLE.

Cheers

A little context might be nice - Here in Canada only Teksavvy doesn't hide/bundle in the price of the line rental for DSL, plus I'm quire sure your prices and connection quality is difficult to compare to Canadian/American internet.

I use a cable internet service from Comcast {Cable TV company}.{Cable modem}
Soon to be upgraded free to double my present speed{22} to about 44Mbs/second with a free wireless modem.
I'm paying for 6 Mbs/second. 22 is my actual speed{about}.

Hi there

"There is Gas in the caves " !!!!!
This is one of the main providers - fibre optic cable -- obviously only in main urban areas (around the coast).

Inland the 3 and 4G networks provide decent coverage.
