Laptop screen too glossy - What would you do?

    Hello,

I just bought my new laptop and noticed it's really hard to work on it. I don't know if it's because the brand is just bad and makes aweful LCDs (It's a Lenovo laptop), or that's how glossy screens look like on every other laptop.

It's just too shiny and it really hurts the eyes! (Is it just me?)

Is there anything I can do to make it like a matte screen or anything to do to protect my eyes? Because I really feel that it damages my eyes (Do you think that it's true?)

    Thanks

    Hello,

You might consider using an external monitor with less glare or consider applying something like ViewGuard Anti-Glare Matte Screen Protector to the laptop display.

    Good luck.

Yea, most manufacturers produce models with either glossy or matte finish screens. Kind of luck the draw which you get unless you are specifically looking for it in the specs.

Some kind of overlay like Hopachi suggested is probably your easiest and cheapest route unless you want to fork out the cach for a screen replacement.

When I bought my Dell I opted for a matt screen and I can remember that first initial "disappointment" when I first opened the laptop lid and saw a dull screen... no showroom appeal... but to use is a different story. Its great, no reflections, easy on the eye and crystal clear.

I don't think you have anything to worry over with your eyes but I would recommend you turn the brightness down. I use only 36% setting and its fine under all conditions for me.

Just did a quick search on Ebay. They are listed under screen guard or protector for laptop.

I am using an external monitor when I'm home, but when I use it in university I don't have one.
