I recently got a Surface Pro 3 (512 GB, Core i7) and it is awesome beyond words. First off, I wanted something fairly powerful, but not generate lots of heat as laptops tend to. Also, I wanted something quiet. The Surface covers all of that easily, and the screen is incredible too. Basically I got it for some mobile gaming (which it works great for!), and school (OneNote with the stylus really helps with notes). The games I mostly play on it which work very well are Minecraft, and Cube 2: Sauerbraten. Sometimes I like playing some of the WinRT games too.
