    Kudos

I like to give credit where credit is due, and I get a vast amount of help from people in here so naturally, like to thank in plenty. But I cannot give kudos to a person I last gave kudos to, but a long time ago. It says that I must spread it around - fairy snuff - but not really fair on those who have been super helpers to me Like CM, Edwin, Brink, Caperjack etc. Can we give a time limit instead of a butter knife to spread it!!

Not necessary my friend, (for me anyway!)
If you post behind a thread or issue that I, (or someone else, for that matter), have done some research on saying "Thanks, got it working", then that's good enough for me.
You've solved your issue, you're happy, I'm happy, you've learned something, I've learned something, everybody goes home satisfied!

    Valid point nonetheless.

It only takes a small tweak in the admin panel? I have my own forum, not tech related, and its easily done.

Being able to rep the same users time after time leads to rep abuse, geeks repping each other in turns. We've seen that really good at our sister site the Seven Forums, which is why the system requires you to rep a certain amount of other geeks before you can rep the same geek again (I believe it's 10 reps before repping the same member again).

As such the system works and is fair to each and every member.

I agree with the reasons, but not the facts. The people I get help from the most cannot be 'rewarded' until I give kudos to someone who hasn't? eg: give one to brink, then edwin - then I have to find 10 others to give kudos before I can give another to edwin or brink - if you see my point.

In the great scheme of things its not important but something I felt should be or could be addressed.

If the rep system was intended to use so that you can only rep members who have directly assisted you, it might need other rules although I doubt that. But as it is now, it works well: you are able to rep other members, too, even in threads where you do not participate. The idea is that you don't just rep those helping you, which often especially if your issues are similar are the exactly same members.

Browse the forums, when you see a member assisting other members with good results rep him / her regardless if you have posted in that thread or who the OP is. The fine and well working rep system encourages you to browse the forums outside your own threads and issues, give kudos to members who might never have assisted you personally.

This whole subject makes me a little confused: quite a many members here seem to think that the main point in participating is to get and give rep. Personally I favor a thank you post, feeling much better when a member I might have assisted posts a simple two word post saying "Thank you". It feels much better than a colored dot under my avatar.

As Edwin says, just post thanks. Good enough for most.

Yeah, thanks are all that are needed. I don't pay attention to rep at all.

In fact, under my user profile and general settings, I've got the box toggled to NOT even show rep.
