I seem to be fairly alone in my complete lack of interest in the World Cup, but i must admit that I really enjoy the Tour de France.

Anybody else on this forum pay attention to this race?

I watch the tour since at least 30 years. Have not missed one yet. I even attended one in 2006. But I also watch the world cup - especially now that Germany is in the semi finals.

Yeah, i was really rooting for Cavendish today. I'm hearing he is not out though, I hope those reports are true.

Let's hope that Cavendish did not break his collar bone and that he can get away with a few minor bruises. Today's performance of Jens Voigt was amazing - considering his age.

I've heard it's not broken and he'll be OK for tomorrow, although today was the day he really wanted to win. :(

Hi there
I watched it from the Yorkshire moors - top of stage at Holme Moss. I'm currently on a gig in Manchester so I cycled to Holme Moss -- nothing like the "proper riders" though.

Brilliant day out -- I don't think anyone ever thought the Brits would go absolutely bonkers for a FRENCH Event !!! -- even the French tour director was totally amazed - said the best Le Grand Depart ever !!!!

BBC News - Tour de France Holme Moss crowds gather at race summit

However the most surprising piece was a sharp hill on a back surburban street in Sheffield just before the stage end - the French called it Cote du Jenkin Road !!!! -- Nobody had ever heard of that street - but it's a tourist attraction now -- just an ordinary backstreet in a grimy part of Sheffield !!!

Up hill and down dale as Sheffield stages a frantic finish - Yorkshire Evening Post

Tour de France 2014: Murder in suburbia as riders embark on steepest hill in this year?s race - Telegraph

In some of the Yorkshire villages - RIDERS assistants were taking pictures of the CROWD !!! That must be the first time ever.

Enjoy !!!!!

Cheers
jimbo
