Never even played with iOS. Linux and Android but never iOS. Guess I'm an Apple bigot.

I never did, until I was given a 1st Gen iPhone. Primitive as it was, it was like Oh My Ghod, there is a full computer in my pocket. Droid would not even exist if not for iOS, as far as I'm concerned it's a piss poor copy.

I had a Droid tablet over Xmas, I gave it away cos I was given an iPad. It was a Rockchip M7088. 1.6 Gig Dual Core, and 800mb of Ram (supposed to be a gig of ram, but it wasn't, so a joke).

Needless to say, my iPhone 4S with only 512 Ram kicked it's ass as far as speed and performance, and when I got my iPad Mini which was about the same size as the RockChip tablet, there was no comparison. And even Jailbroken my iPad mini totally ouperforms that crappy tablet. There are ultra expensive Droid tablets that have lots of resources, but to tell the troof? Between a Droid tablet and a Surface, I'll take the Surface. Between Surface and ipad? It's a hard choice, but I'll have to take the iPad Air.

Linux is a great OS, but it should STAY on Desktop PCs, it's good for Developers - It's NO good to host the GUI for a Mobile OS.

The trick with iOS and Jailbreaking is, to only use those tweaks you absolutely need - Most people like to add lots and lots of extra Theming and performance tweaks, and that uses up RAM that is not supposed to be used. So when their devices brick, they bitch to the Devs. But the Devs can't fix a tweak that was used in a device where almost all available RAM is used by theming mods!

Theming can be done on Droids without JB, but the problem there, is there is too much CACK. I only found one Theme I used for Droid that did not have Ads all over, and/or totally reduced my performance. Finally I returned it back to stock and it ran almost decently.

I've only owned PowerPC Macs, but I liked how OS X worked in those. I Wish I had a newer Macbook Pro. But all I can say, is that iOS is a lot like MAC OS X, except it's Sandboxed - The latest OS X are also Sandboxed, which is kind of sucky.

But once you Jailbreak you can toss that Sandbox into the trash, once you get into the iOS filesystem, there are LOTS of cool things you can do - I do a lot of my tweaks using terminal.

Once you JB, you can get around the iOS FS and it's similar somewhat to Linux, some of the commands are the same. You would do things in Terminal the same way as in a Linux terminal, the difference is how the Springboard.app runs. Also the base OS under it all is still Darwin.

With the right tweaks and apps, you can control all of your home PCs from one little PADD like on Star Trek.

I've been doing this for three years and I'll never stop.
