    Virtual Machine Experiment

    I'v been messing with Linux virtual machines lately, and decided to experiment a bit :

    Windows 7 x64 HOST ---> LinuxMint x64 Virtual machine ---> Windows 8 CP x86 Virtual Machine

    This is a VMWARE Player + Virtual Box combination. Looks like I have a way to go yet.....

    This way seems a bit easier

    Windows 7 x64 HOST ---> Windows 8 CP x86 Virtual machine ---> Ubuntu x86 Virtual Machine

    This is a VMWARE Player + VMWARE Player combination.

    A VM inside a VM inside a regular old OS? Reminds me of "Inception".

    Haha, yes, I hadn't thought about it that way. Works quite nicely, if a little sluggish, which is understandable.

    I've started thinking about playing with Windows 8 inside a VM but not sure if it would be that good as I only have 2 GB of RAM on here. I have the Microsoft VM with XP Mode at present but haven't really done much with that.

    Hi Joan,

    It not really enough to run a VBox or VMPlayer very well, If at all. The reason is that any memory you assign to the VM is reserved exclusively for the VM which would not leave enough for the host.

    This is kid stuff. here I'm running SCVMM inside a 2008 r2 server VM, run inside a 2008 r2 hyper-v host, that I remote connect from my Windows 7 WM ( VMware WS ) in my Windows 7 host.

    Those were my thoughts Keith which is why I haven't really gone into it that much, I think for the time being I'll just keep popping in here to see how things are going.

    It's a pity Joan. There is nothing like hands on getting the feel of something.
