The next step would be to use BootCamp and actually run 8.1 on the MAC. I'd imagine you have an extra product code to use for that. I haven't come close to using all of mine. I'm getting really itchy to get my laptop out and start using my deck again. Looks like we might get a little more snow though. This is the first time in a long time that my deck actually has no snow on it, anywhere.

bootcamp was already suggested by jimbob I think ,but I think because mine is a older duel core I could only use winxp

nice and sunny this morning ,I still got snow on my deck ,and 2 and 3 foot drifts all around the yard ,I kind of live in the woods with trees on 2 sides so the snow always builds up .we might still have snow to keep the cool-aid cold for the May long weekend like I remember from when I was a kid lol

I don't think I've ever bought a MAC anything. I had a Sansa MP3 player, replaced that with a Sony Walkman or what ever they call it. On the laptop/PC side of things everything we have now has an AMD processor in it. I've always bought AMD. I'm not big on buying recondisioned or refurbished hardware. My brother in law does it all the time. I don't think he's ever bought anything new come to think of it. I have nothing against doing it, its just not for me. I'm content to buy the next model or two down new over a used one. The only exception to that was my house and some of the cars I've bought.

yeah, i usually buy new ,as far as cpu it doesn't matter ,what ever is in the one i pick out ,got new one at christmas from tiger direct ,but because of lack of money over the years i bought a lot of used .i had a business in 2005 repairing and selling computers i only sold used computers and new parts ,that was when you could still get 500.00 for a used system ,now used ones are on kijiji for 90.00 and up.lol

Years ago due to money constraints I bought a bare bones system from Tiger Direct. And a bunch of other stuff over the years. It's my backup spare PC now.
    Asus M2N68-AM SE2 µATX Motherboard, AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz, 4GB 2GB X 2 Ultra PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory, 160 Gig Western Digital IDE Drive, case power supply etc.
Then I slowly upgraded the parts one by one and ended up with my current desktop PC
    Asus M4N68T-M V2 µATX Motherboard, AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition Deneb 3.7GHz, 8GB 4GB X 2 Kingston PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz Memory, 1 TB Western Digital SATA-300 Drive.
I think that was all bought at Tiger Direct too. I buy some stuff from Newegg now that they ship to Canada.
Yeah, I hear you, used stuff isn't worth much these days. Moneys tight here too. That's why I go AMD. An AMD CPU versus an Intel of equal performance will almost always be cheaper. Until you get to the high performance anyway. AMD can't match Intel for performance at the ultra high end but I can't afford those CPU's anyway. I've never been disappointed with my CPU choices. I'm a brand loyal type of guy. AMD, ASUS, Logitech, HP.

Really, I updated an old MacBook from XP to 7, and it runs great. You just have to find the right Bootcamp package for 32 or 64 bit.
