    Keeping old stuff

I still have my floppy disks with DOS 6.2.2. I can think of no use whatsoever to keep then, but I still do. I don't know why. Anybody else like me out there?

Yes I am a hoarder. There are computer museums out there that may benefit, but I never get there. I have a fair few boxes in a storage container, probably full of Atari's and all sorts of things. I can't even remember

I think I'll give them to one of my great grandchildren. It may be a collector item when they get to be my age.

I still have my old slide rule which I got new in 1955. It served me well through college and first few years of work life. It is a Dietzgen N1733 - Polymath Multiplex Decimal Trig Type Log Log model, in its original snap lock case.

The slide rule--that is a thing of the past. I haven't seen one for years.

Oh I have things that can go back years, in fact the jumper I'm wearing today is one I knitted about 50 years ago. If something is still useful I can't see the point in throwing it away. I know my old XP machine, well it came with WinME, is still sitting in the corner of my office and I have CD's and Floppy discs that go back to when I started out in computers back in 1998, also lots of paper work and books from back then.

There was once when I moved that I threw out a truck load of stuff I was hoarding. There was one item out of it that I could've used just once. The last of my hoarding days. Now I see there's a TV series on the subject? Glad my addiction is computers now!

There are things in life that I treasure that I just simply won't part with. Some hand tools from the beginning of my construction career. A hand block plane and a speed square with the booklet that came with to name a few.

Kept my Gateway 2000 complete with floppy drive and disks. It was used given to me by a very good IT Pro friend. My first "real" computer. It had 95 on it. Upgraded to 98, then 98SE.

Joan, our mother was excelled in embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. Did it for decades. A lot of articles remain in the family. She knitted me a sweater back in the early 70's that my ex wife didn't like and threw out. I was absolutely livid! That marriage didn't last very long!

whs; Shoes from the 50's? Must have been highest quality leather shoes! Are they penny loafers by any chance?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums. Is there a method to upgrade to Windows 8.1 from Win7 without losing any files? Thanks in advance.
Well, we often hear/read that we should update our drivers regularly, as the newest versions provide more security/stability/functionality/other enhancements. On the other hand OEM manufacturers want their customers to rely only on drivers available on their own support pages, not on components...
