How many of you also have an Apple computer?

Just wondering how many use both Windows PC's and Mac's? I just purchased a Mac Book Pro this past weekend and am starting to learn all about how Apple does things and how OSX works.

I'm only a couple of days in, but this device certainly has it's pros and it's cons.

I use a MacBook and Windows although my MacBook is 7 years old

Loved it upto Snow Leopard (10.6)
Hated Lion (last version my Mac would take)

Never used the last 2 versions which have improved quite a bit, but it was too late for me, I moved to Windows 8

I'm from a Mac background, so I've used an old iBook, an eMac, and two different versions of the iMac. But now I'm shifting towards Windows, Windows 8 is actually my very first version of Windows.

I used to have a Mac Mini, running Leopard then Snow Leopard but found I hardly used it as I preferred doing things on my Win 7 box so ended up trading the Mini for a Toshiba laptop.

Considering what I've read in the past couple of years with Windows 8, this does not surprise me....

I've used mac os here and there... Not my cup of tea, coffee, nor latte.

The fact that only THREE years ago, the platform didn't have cut and paste in Finder was just mind blowing. The fact that AutoCAD wasn't available about three years ago was just a no-go for me. Now that apple put in a feature that is so simple it's shocking, it's mildly better. But I've read through some mac forums that most "pro" mac users will install a file explorer program instead of using Finder and I don't blame them; and itunes style of managing a file system started to freak my brain because I basically didn't have ANY advanced commands that I've been used to since Windows 8 in Developer Preview...

I do like how mac os, as far as I know, sandboxes programs from each other. This is basically a feature of WinRT to some extent. Weird how you "install" programs though...

As someone from a Windows background, mac os doesn't cut it for me. It's interesting, some things OBVIOUSLY came from it to Windows like Windows 7's Taskbar style, but it's a platform that apple isn't heavily focused on so vital features/patches don't roll as quick as they do in Windows. The UI style is

The hardware however, is quite excellent. apple does know how to design and build very decent hardware, granted sometimes over built in the case of the iphone, but still very good.

I've now adjusted to a handful of things well. It's ability to go to sleep and wake up instantly is great. And it's battery life is great.

I don't use things like autocad, so this is a non issue for me. I also have Windows computers available to me, so I can use them when they are needed.

What I do like is that many of the built in apps are pretty decent for most peoples needs. Like iPhoto and iVideo. Things like time machine make backups a snap and restores of the entire machine from this image is great. Reinstall of the OS is an absolute snap, no product keys, no activation. And reboots are a pretty rare thing.

It's not all rainbows and unicorns though. The retina display which is really 1280x800 is nowhere near enough screen real estate for me, so I ruin scaled at 1680x1050. The method off installing apps is just strange and the fact that I have to unmount the installers from the desktop when complete is just annoying.

Overall, in less than a week, I'd say it's better than what I expected. I've no intention of switching over completely or anything. I have no intention of running Windows on my Mac, I have Windows computers for that.

Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center

My wife has an iMac and iPad, I only use them when they need maintenance, updates and such. I know virtually nothing about them, about iOS and MacOSX, only what I have had to learn to fix Angie's small issues, do backups and updates and so on.

Nope, don't have one. I wouldn't mind getting one though. I really want to fix some hardware issues with my Amiga A3000.

I have now tried twice to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. Guess it didn't make any spark of discussion yesterday, but apple released their ipad mini (ipod touch x 2) a new ipad 4 that is a mild to little improvement of the last one plus an apple mini-USB connector (Lightning port) as well as a new imac AIO, which wouldn't be worthwhile or from apple if it...
