I hate Apple. Every damn Apple product. They make me sick. Never used one of their products, and don't hope to use ever in my life.

(My views on the fruit-company may be slightly dogmatic, but who cares?)

Oh, if you aren't already aware:

You also agree that you will not use these products for any purposes prohibited by United States law, including, without limitation, the development, design, manufacture or production of nuclear, missiles, or chemical or biological weapons.
    Apple sucks.

So you hate everything, but you have NEVER used one of their products? That doesn't make for a very compelling argument to others to avoid their products.

My new MacBook Pro is the first Apple device I've ever bought for myself. Over the years, I've never been able to justify the price premium, but over time that premium has dwindled. Sure, I can still find a cheaper Windows laptop...but then it's a cheaper built, slower and less powerful laptop. If you get up to a nice resolution screen, aluminum body, all day battery life, light weight, with 256GB PCI-Xpress SSD and 8GB of RAM...it ends up being a $1300+ Windows PC.

OSX and the MacBook pro is not all rainbows and unicorns. Some things are done very well, some things are lacking. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase, it's the computer I am now using 95% of the time at home. But I'm by no means an Apple diehard at this point. I'm not eliminating the use of Windows. I'm not convinced OSX is by far a better OS, I'm not telling everybody that I know to run out and buy an Apple computer.

    It met my needs perfectly
1). Gave me something new to learn
2). Lasts 3+ days easily on a charge
3). Goes to sleep and comes out of sleep within 2 seconds.
    4). Is extremely quick.

My #1 above was #1 to me. I have a Windows 8 ultrabook from work that I carry. My wife has a Windows 8 Ultrabook with Touch. My kids have a Windows 8 laptop with touch. I setup and maintain lots of Windows 8 laptops at work. To me, getting another Windows 8 computer would have just been boring and more of the same 'ol same 'ol. With this MacBook pro purchase, I'm having to learn lots of things all over again and experience a different methodology for completing tasks. It's been a fun learning experiment.

    Hi pparks,

Don't take it seriously mate, in that post I also mentioned this:

(My views on the fruit-company may be slightly dogmatic, but who cares?)
While I have many valid reasons to hate apple, but the extent to which I hate that company is unreasonable. I guess, born to hate apple.

What I hate most about Apple is its marketing:

You are using Apple products, the most premium stuff. Now you are part of the "mac community". Apple products have no issues. "Everything just works!" Those who use Windows/Android/Linux are too poor to afford our premium products.

    Good job, Apple.

Actually more than Apple, I hate the Apple fanboys who would go on singing praises for this company relentlessly. No matter what.

This kinda sums up for me:

Apple's attitude of what-we-think-is-right-for-you-is-in-fact-what-is-right-for-you is most annoying. I'm saddened that Microsoft seems to be following their footsteps. But at least, Windows users won't tell you "windows just works". There is NOTHING that "just works".

That's fine, lots of people hate companies for irrational reasons. Lots of people hate things that are extremely popular but aren't appealing to them.

I just have a hard time placing much value into the opinions of those with either hate and completely dismiss a company or those who are Apple zealots. In most cases, they don't have compelling arguments, they just speak from emotion more than fact.

Agreed that they have done quite a lot with marketing. But you have to look at both sides of the coin to get the full story. Are their products infallible and never break and crash? No, absolutely not. But, consider the commentary from a different perspective.

#1). They put together their own hardware and their own OS, so they don't have near as many compatibility issues that plague other PC makers. However, that also limits the # of configurations and choices that you can get. So, while Apple may only have a few different products to pick from, they do generally work as advertised
#2). Many home users, who aren't very savvy, have been plagued with virsues, spyware and malware in the Windows world. Many of these problems stemmed from their use of Windows XP where they were administrators, but it's something that they remember. These problems, while not completely non-existent in the Mac world, are pretty darn rare when compared to a Windows user.
#3). Apple stores do a great job with customer service. You can get a machine or device replaced often right on the spot.
#4). Built-in apps like Time Machine make backups and restore an absolute breeze on a Mac. You literally plug in your external hard drive, let it backup, then if you go to the Apple store and they replace your MacBook, you bring your new unit home, boot and press Control+R, choose restore from Time Machine, wait a bit and your machine is exactly right back where you left it.

So, to people who say, Apple products have no issues...well they are just foolish if they believe this. However, Apple has done a pretty good job making them easy for the general public to use, and they have also made them quite easy to backup and restore. Also, Apple hardware is pretty well built. Sure, you get an occasional failed hard drive, or stick of RAM that goes bad like anything else, but you don't have "cheapo" parts that are far more prone to breaking down that you see in the sub $500 PC/laptop market.

Yes, I also find this extremely annoying and it doesn't carry any weight with me. But it's not that much different from those who have no experience and bash the company endlessly, and fail to see any value for anybody in any of their products.

I work as an IT systems engineer. Been doing this since around 1999. Have lots of friends who are engineers as well. Microsoft certified, Cisco Certified, VMWare Certified, Linux certified, etc. Quite a few of us make our living supporting Windows and Linux servers for a living. And quite a number of us are also purchasing Apple products for personal use. < We are NOT fanboys, we don't sing praises and live in a mythical land where we believe that "everything is awesome". Most of us are satisfied completely with our purchases. Our satisfaction often doesn't come easy. To me, that says quite a bit. None of my friends will say their MacBooks are the best computers at everything, but they also won't say, "these things suck, I hate Apple".

I don't have an iPod and never have. Always found better values elsewhere. Never had an iPhone and don't want one. Too many limitations for me personally and not enough choice. But I do enjoy my MacBook Pro.
