How many of you also have an Apple computer?

    Windows 8.1

Had Mini mac and have iMac, dabbled with iPad and iPhone but now Android user. I use Windows and Mac OSX but find myself edging back towards M$ Windows as I feel Apple are not selling the value for money and reliable gear they used to do. They've lost something special as some of the decisions and poor manufacturing flaws like the wifi issues with ios 6- 7 on iPhone 4/4s and expensive cheap breakable tat they peddle now is starting to wain. The once flawless Mac OSX is also now buggy and seemingly needs a ridiculous amount of hardware horsepower to run it smoothly. Nah I'm back to M$ until someone at Apple wakes up.

I feel the opposite, if I can't change window/accent colors, have 50/50 window app snap, a decent File Explorer, and be able to deploy custom images with decent amounts of ease I'm lost. I can't even use mac os PURELY because of the lack of window snapping, that will get annoying REAL quick. It just feels too constricting for my tastes and honestly seems like it's stuck in the year 2006.

I've tried to install Hackintosh over and over and over and the last time I attemped it, it cost me a great Gateway laptop that had a 17" screen and HDMI output. It was an intensive install that took over an hour and it overheated the power section and blew out the whole block. I'm still really bummed for that.

I give them credit for doing Bootcamp though, they didn't have to develop it, but they did and you can at leats set up newer macs with dual boot.

So, let me get this right, you don't like MacOS cos there is no SNAP? We didn't have it until Windows 7 anyway, I;'ve been using computers that never had that feature for way longer than I've had it, so it doesn't bother me, I don't use it that much anyway.

But you are probably right, Apple will NEVER make a universally-installable OSX for PC computers.

Ok, I know what you mean, they look like a larger, whiter Apple TV box. Those are actually pretty cool, I want one, sell me yours?

And you hit it right on the head that the basic problem with Apple Desktops and Laptops is the lack of software, which is why I chose Windows long ago. The biggest Apple Users are the Special Effects companies in Hollywood etc, that's mostly what Macs have been used for. Also, Avid consoles are mac driven I think- I have an Avid keyboard I use for Pro Tools.

On the reverse, Apple has the Lion's Share of Device Applications, for tablets and phones, the Apple store dwarfs even Googol Play.

The Windows 8 "Store" is lacking in any useful apps, I heard that VLC has finally been added, but they really have nothing useful - I installed a Sound Recording Program that could do multiple tracks, but it was crash city. I know Cokey will argue this, but maybe he';s found some useful things in the store, but I have not. But I have no need for any tile apps at all, I have no Touch devices that are windows.

Windows PCs have the best Desktop Programs, but to get the same amount of app choices for a device, for that you have to go for an Apple device. My iPhone and iPad are the central pieces of my home network, with the helper apps all connected I can connect to any of my PCs and use practically any app that's installed remotely. And if I want to watch a movie that's on any of my PCs I can just stream it right into my devices.

I don't think OSX was ever flawless, but as somebody new to Apple and OSX, my MacBook Pro doesn't have a ridiculous amount of hardware and this thing runs great. I've got a work laptop with more horsepower and my kids have a personal laptop with less power and this MacBook Pro is in between them and performs exactly as I would expect. My battery life is better than I would expect and the instant on/off from sleep is awesome. I never have to reboot this computer.

Between OSX on a Motorola chip and OSX on an Intel chip, the Motorola version was relatively flawless, I've never had any major crashes.

You should try Bootcamp, it's pretty easy to set up once you find the right version of Bootcamp for your system/OS.
