So far, I like it. Compared to the previous versions of Windows (7, Vista, XP, 9x), it seems far snappier and more responsive.

I agree. Finally got the Metro Start screen customized and also my desktop. All my hardware works and still installing and setting up my software but so far so good. Its a keeper.

I really like it and am going to install it as my main OS.
Have been playing with Win8 since 13th April 2011 when I installed build 7850 and have ironed out all the problems I had changing from Win7.

I could tell you how much I hate it but the site censor would kick in.

It's going to take some getting use to without the usual Start Menu, and having to get use to the below. I just wish they would make it easier to get to them with just one click.

"Start" screen = Start Menu "Pin to" area in Windows 7
"Apps" screen = Start Menu "All Programs" area in Windows 7.

I have a question though. Where is the next button in that lousy Photos app like in Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 7 to be able to scroll through images in the folder without a slideshow?

Thank goodness Photo Viewer is still there. I did a complete update on my Start window. Unpinned all the useless stuff and pinned all the thinks I think I might want to use. Don't have to go to to App page anymore. Its not to bad once you clean it up.

    No idea.

I get stuck in that damn thing.

Also get stuck when I try to use one of those game apps. they included - the little things that pop out from the side don't stay out for long enough to use them .

    I don't like it much.

With enough effort and hacks, and workarounds it will be usable , I suppose.

    Not surprising really.

They are trying to capture the average user mainly.

The type who just do the stuff you can do on any cheapo mobile phone - play some mindless game while on the train - bit of internet banking and shopping - bit of Fbook poking.

MS want to ensnare those users and direct them to the MS clouds.

They have tried to keep something for the rest of us.

But we are not the prirority.

Installation sequence should recognize when it is being installed on a PC and not enable all the touch screen capabilities that make the system so user unfriendly. I have been long time supporter of Microsoft but find this to be the first operating system that I do not plan to use. Headed for Vista fast and needs to be readied for PC's before it gets too far down the road and turns too many normal PC users off.

I installed it, so far not to many problems. With anything else, it is a new operating system and we need to get used to change. It is still in beta that is what others forget, they think it should be perfect but it isn't, and all the bugs have to get out of it. That is why it is a beta and they need feed back to fix them.
