Too cold for mail delivery today

We had wind chills of -15 F.

    The mailman didn't show up.

    {No mail.No fresh tracks in the snow.}

    Just bored.
    Had to post something.

The mail carriers in MN must come from hardier stock, as I got my mail yesterday afternoon when the temp. was -13F and the wind chills were between -30 to -40.

No mail here either just a guess they did not have any to delivery as the mail comes from Baton Rouge and roads were closed today due to ice.

It is ice cold here too, +48F with a wind chill of +45F. But we got mail. The mailperson does not have to get out of their car. For us this is the deepest winter. I have never seen it that cold during the day.

My mail person delivers on foot.

EDIT-- Your baby polar bear avatar seems apt.

Yeah, that was Knud from the Berlin zoo when he was little. He was hand raised. But then he died a couple of years ago when he was about 3 years old. That's sad.

    Poor bear.

    I like bears.
    Black bears that is.

For a while I chose to live in the wilderness.
I encountered bears of all ages & sizes.

They were easy going, but if felt threatened would pound their front feet on the ground or a fallen tree & huff to show, "Don't mess with me. "

If young, they were shy & would hide their heads behind a tree to show they weren't a threat.

To save myself from being attacked I would emulate the actions of the young bears by stooping my shoulders & hanging my head & going behind a tree.

    It worked.
    I wasn't attacked & eaten.

One day I was eating a sandwich in my tent & a BIG bear (maybe 500 pounds, male) showed up 10 feet in front of my tent.

    It looked at me.
    I looked at it.

I got a can of roach spray & squirted a bit through the screen & it turned on a dime & hauled ass.
I was happy with the outcome.

    Those were the days...

Sounds like you had fun in the wilderness. The closest I ever got was in Tuolumne meadows campground in Yosemite. Each night the bears were roaming thru the campground looking for food and if you left something out on the camping table, they would get it. Those were brown bear.
