Haha I am a happy camper at the moment. I received my new video card in specs, an ASUS HD 7790.
When I first tried to fit it, there were about 4 obstacles and there simply was no way.
So, not one to be discouraged, I began by ripping apart the rear of the case with metal cutters I have. That took a while. I also removed the motherboard peripheral cover which needed to be done.
Cool. Still not even close to going because the vga port on the motherboard prevented the card from installation, physically.
Not a problem. I cut the vga port off of the motherboard with the metal cutters again, then proceeded to make sure none of the cut pins were touching each other. Done.
Then, the cpu heatsink lower right screw was preventing the card from fitting, still. Not a problem. Removed that screw, heat sink is still on flush and well, temps are good, and card is installed.
Latest driver installed, and systems are all go 100%.
My mom was laughing at me the whole time, knowing how crazy it is doing what I was doing. She knows I know a thing or two, and while she was watching me, even she was a skeptical as can be.
All in all, pat on the back to myself for a good job that 99% of people will not even think to want to try.
Off to check some games...once I see if anyone needs some answers in threads I've been helping in.
Oh yeah, I had to remove the rear bracket from the card, too. lol
