Would you rather pay a one time, 200 dollar license for a program, whether it be Office or whatever versus being harassed by advertisements by somewhat equivalent free alternatives?

It depends on the program. Some I prefer with one time licenses and others with small advertising. For large ticket items like windows and office I would like to see that in more of a buy the license and then that's that. The software is mine forever.

I don't particularly care whether there's ads hassling me. As long as it's still usable, that's all that really matters.

I agree jaidyn. Ads don't normally bother me as long as they stay out of the way.

Exactly. If it's one of those programs that you can't even move the mouse without an ad following it, I'd probably just buy it (or uninstall it if it's not all that useful). If it's just an ad when you start the program or similar, that's fine with me.

It actually depends on the ads themself, are they popups, regular ads, flash, pictures, "you won the iphone (again)", or just text.

well, i might start with the ad version...

No. Too many alternatives usually. If no good alternative, then would accept ads. A Guy
