I also keep all my old computers / laptops, don't know what to do with it, no one will ever buy those, but I don't put them with the trash either...

Nomar,
In the US they recycle them.
If it is a computer I remove the HD and destroy it then throw it in trash.
Not sure if they offer it in the Netherlands.

I want to move to cali, where I live our garbage services are really strict. What you can and can't put in the trash.

Thankfully, I'm smart and found services that'll pay for e-waste. Scrap pay is not gold but it helps the environment and puts greens in my wallet.

As far as keeping old things around, not much anymore, 99% of it now gets scrapped and/or recycled.

In fact I recycle so much that my little 1 gal trashcan is plenty of space for the weekly trash man.

Usually I like to clean up from time to time. But some things just stay - like a pair of shoes from the 50's. Old technology stuff I do not keep. It is just old iron. I wish though I had kept my 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 convertible - white with a red top and red interior.

Uhh, the only old old thing I have is my AIWA stereo from like, 1992? In fact, I'm using it right now. It's my home theater system and is still kicking! Oh! My car is also quite old, if it were a person, it could be legally drunk at 21 years old. That is also still kicking in fact. Hmm, but a pair of shoes from the 50s...wow!

I am thinking about using mine to make a cluster/Super PC
with the amount of electricity a bunch of older computers would need to run it would be cheaper to buy a new i7 or xeon machine...

I don't keep old things. I have an extremely high rate of turnover on my machines. Constant upgrades and always moving on to the next and selling/donating the old stuff.
