A SSD for the OS is a great thing. Must have is perhaps too strong, but if building a system, I'd skimp on something else to make the room for a SSD. A Guy

Sounds like I'll be including a SSD in my build.

    Any preferred brand?

You'll get varied opinions. Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston perhaps. You can compare performance, then ask for individual posters experience with your choice.

I have three OCZs and two Intels sizes 60GB to 90GB - the oldest is over 3 years old. They all work well. But I have also heard good things about the Crucials. Always check the user experience reports on Newegg. There is e.g. one OCZ model that is a real dog. Beware when one is extra cheap.

$370.oo Canadian, on a freinds pc
increased performance rating 5.3 to 7.6

made case to mount ssd drive behind front fan which directs forced air around the drive keeping it cool (i heard high heat shortens
    life of drive)

I will buy one soon .ps don't defrag more than once a year(with proper tool)

OCZ Vertex 3's were the best SSD's around but they had been experiencing issues the last time I heard. The Crucial M4 is not only one of the cheapest SSD's but also one of the fastest. I've seen many good reviews and feedback about this particular series and would definitely recommend it.

Hi All I'm new around here since I recently upgraded to an SSD and installed Windows 8 on it, Is the 8.1 Upgrade worth it?? Thanks
I'm talking about the leaked version. I only want the 50/50 split screen functionality. For what I do, I really need it. Trying to work with a 75/25 is annoying, because I can't do much with 25. I know how to save an app and side load it in the new system. I know how to make it dual boot...
