Get your standard issued shovel over there on the racks. *points to racks*

I have a 1TB hard drive sitting next to my computer and while it's always plugged in I hardly go on it.

Well today digging through it I found some pictures, some music, and above all some documents I've forgotten about.

So what's the point of the thread?

Well with your shovel in hand or mouth... or foot. What would be the most shocking thing be that you've forgotten about be it music, documents, or pictures. You do not need to detail what you found.

I'd say the most shocking thing I've found would be stories I've wrote and forgotten about.

P.S.- Forgetting your taxes doesn't count ;)

Old treasured emails found in an old backup. Had lost the hd but had forgotten the emails contained in the backup. Now two of us are happier

Of course. ;)

On a more serious note, I haven't found many interesting things on old hard drives. I have however found a picture of a sugar glider I don't recognise and I'm not entirely sure how it got there.

Gotta love when we put things on them acting like we'll need it again sometime and forget about it. Then come back a year or two later and wonder either why does it still exist or how the heck it got on the drive in the first place.

Too true. Though after a while, I usually end up deleting anything I don't recognise or don't need. I used to have so much crap on my computer that I got back over 20GB back by deleting random, old documents and folders.

I, at one point had 7 HDDs all setup in one of my desktops, Let me tell ya, that was one heck of a setup. Did I use all of them? Yup, Consisted of three 80GB, two 160GB, one 320GB, and one 1TB drives.

To be honest, it was hard to get all my data to fit on just the 1TB before I gave the machine away.

I'm still cleaning up my mess I caused, from back when my old server crashed and I scrapped it for parts.

Now its just me and my netbook. Come in a few years, I'll have my dream build built.

Consisting of 2 laptops, an HTPC, One gaming desktop, and one server.

Lets see here, my netbook getting a 320GB HDD upgrade, The laptop with a 500GB drive, the desktop 640GB [total], the server 4TB [total].

That's LOT of storage!

I am past the forgetful stage and nowadays forget that I have forgotten things. I recently found photos that my grandmother must have given me before she died. I couldn't remember these photos at all. It was like seeing them for the first time.
What a wonderful very emotional trip down memory lane :) I just wish that there was someone who could answer my questions as all of the photos are well before my time.

Pooch I was going to reply to your post but was mobile so I couldn't get my phone to work with me.

If those photos aren't digital, you should make them digital. Then again there'll be an argument on what media form is best.

I hope you get the answers you're looking for.

Ummm, well this post wasn't as good as I wanted...

Thank you :) No probably not, as there is no one left to ask :( the best I can do is go back to where I think the photos where made and see if any of the locations still exist, that in itself would be interesting and bring a sort of closure.
I scanned them onto my PC when I found them and the quality for these old black and white photos is remarkable. I will be keeping the photos as well tho.

Ummm, well this post wasn't as good as I wanted...

It's good enough for me :)

Thanks. I tend to be hard on myself when I have to retype posts.

I'm almost ready to ditch this wireless keyboard or go with a different brand. Too many dang errors...
