I want to get an HTC One but my son (age 13) says I should get a iPhone 5 (or C/S/etc)

Who is correct or is Galaxy better?

I've got a T-Mobile G2, which is HTC and it works great. Cost about $119. I believe the iPhones are quite a bit more expensive.

Here they are the same - about €600 to €700 for HTC One, iPhone 5 or Galaxy without contract. Not cheap for sure.

Certainly not a 8 forums question but I guess you guys/girls may have one???

It'll be your phone, if you've done the research and like the HTC One then go for it. For a lot of teens the iPhone can be nothing more than a status symbol. Personally, I've got an iPhone 4S, not because it is a status symbol but because it was a Christmas present from my lovely wife. I like it; it suits my purpose.

Stick with what you like , if you want the HTC then go for it , personally I'll be switching from my iPhone to a nexus 4 as soon as my contract is up.

As jf1450 said , often iPhone is just a status symbol for many younger people (jeeze that makes me sound old).

Remember , it's you not your son who'll be using it...

I bought an HTC One on launch day, and I love it.

Advantages over the iPhone:
Better screen resolution
Stereo front speakers
Processor speed
More RAM
Runs Android instead of iOS

I'd definitely recommend the One over the iPhone.

Sounds like your son is an Apple fanboy... for which I feel the following depicts quite well:

How familiar are you with either platform? Iphones use Ios which, although severely controlled, does offer a pretty seamless interface. Android is a bit more open, but it is capable of being confusing at times.

I have a samsung galaxy s3. Before that, I wanted the Htc One. He htc is a better phone, for my uses, but what do you mainly use your phone for? Personally though, I'd for the one. Love it!

Same here, Xmas present from my Sister in Law last Xmas, I could have gotten a 5 but I wanted a 4S cos all my Audio Connections use the 30 pin connector, and I can get any 30 pin connector and use it.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
My two cents.. The galaxy s4 is the best phone on the planet right now. Couple it with a 64gb micro sd card which can be had for aprox 50 bucks, a 4600mah extended battery, and you have yourself an 80gb power house that can go two days without a charge under heavy use. The phone is a delight to use. I got one for my mother who does not have the best eye sight, and she is using it like a wiz.. Very hard to go wrong with this phone.

I am not a very big fan of the iphone, but that is just me. I love the larger screen on the galaxy, and the expand ability as far as storage goes. I hate the fact that with the iphone, you are 100% dependent on iTunes to sync things to and from your phone, and that you are limited to syncing with just one computer. In the end, apples ecosystem is too much of a cage. The lightning cable is expensive and fragile. I burned through 3 of then in the first 5 months. Go galaxy. You won't be sorry. The HTC is a good phone, but not as friendly to the casual computer user as the galaxy.
