Hello all. Going back in time, back to the future or back from the future. Not that anyone cares, but I, for the first time, am running Vista on the system in the "My System Specs" listed below. With all drivers installed, the device manager is clean. Did all the updates, running ie9 and Vista Ultimate SP2. This system is awesome! It has all the extras that were removed from Windows 7 and don't exist in 8. I am particularly fond of soft buttons (not flat) that appear to be pressed and can be resized in Personalization. Scroll bars can be resized. Ultimate has Dreamscene which works beautifully. Vista uses Windows Mail by default (pop3) (my favorite), it has fancy mouse pointers, a Vista logo screen saver, no logon to an MS account (ha, ha), and a nice clean menu. Vista uses flex control buttons (classic theme) unlike flat 8 that seems like one is pressing on cement. Anyway, I like Vista Ultimate and it works perfectly. ... will be spending some time here for now ...

Vista Ultimate was the only version worth messing with. I suppose if you have a Core Duo 32 bit, the CPU it as designed to work with originally, it would run great.

Actually I'm trying to install Vista Ultimate into Q-Emulator on my G5. Won't know much until it's installed heh.

I think the problem with Vista Ultimate is that it did have all of those accoutrements, and they were all heavy GPU eaters. Dreamscene, Gadgets, heavy duty enhancements in the desktop that would bring my system to a halt if I allowed them to all run. 1 GB was not enough Ram, and they were putting Vista into machines with 512! 4 GB ram was the ideal amount, if not more. SP1 fixed some of the problems with TSR memory not being released.

But you've got 16 GB installed, on an i7, so you should have enough resources to run flawlessly, especially with 8 USB 3 and 9 USB 2 connections.
