ProtogonFS was found in some early builds of Windows 8 and was found to handle disk operations better than NTFS. But since we're now at Developer stage, is the new file system not going to come around, again?
My assumption is that it won't probably because Microsoft realized that people have hundreds of gigabytes and even quite a few terabytes of data and it would be very difficult to back that all up to format the hard drive for Windows 8. Also, since it's built on NT6 technology and since vista didn't include a new file system mad, I doubt it'll happen for 8.
Personally, since Windows 8 has been called the Longhorn Dream reborn and also 8 might be the last NT6 Windows operating system, it would seem right to honor that radical dream with finally putting in the last of the best features that Longhorn should had, most definitely a new file system. Just my two cents....
