What do you do with your computer (especially during night time/prolonged idle times)?

Have it always on?
Shut it down completely?
Have it enter sleep mode?
Have it enter hibernate mode?

Win 8 de-Modernized is pretty much my go-to at this point, but I still flirt with Linux and the KDE desktop environment.
I use to use sleep mode and or hibernate mode....now when I get up I turn on my PC and leave it on until I go to bed or if I leave the house then I turn it off.

If I'm not using it, its shut down. I've disabled hibernate on all my PC's. My laptops are set to "do nothing" if the lid is closed and "power down" if the power button is pressed.

Most of the time it's On, but whenever i don't have to use the laptop for a long time then it's either on sleep mode or shut down.

My Business Puter is always on, goes to a screensaver. Media computer is on 24/7 with movies streaming. My DAW with Digi 001 and Pro Tools 6.4 (a dinosaur) is always on, so I don't have to wait to jump on it and start mixing. But that one cannot hibernate, the Digi hardware prevents it from going into hibernation. There is a PCI card that connects the 001 module. All three of these systems connect to a 40" Hitachi HDTV as a display.

On the other side, my work area, I have a mac G5 Titanium Tower, always on. I had hoped to run Virtual PC, but it is very slow. Since it's 10.5.8 for powerPC I can't do Boot Camp. It has a 21" Cinematic Display that is beautiful. Speedwise it is comparable to an Athlon socket 751, it's got 3 GB of ram. That one goes to sleep. Sometimes I have other systems hooked up there, that I'm working on, those stay on as well while I have them.

Left on if I'm away for a small period of time 15 mins or so....for longer periods (1+ hours) I put it into sleep mode , it's powered off at the end of the day...but then I have a power save strip that powers down everything else attached to it when the PCs power goes off.

A mixture of power off (Windows 8 fast start-up version) and hibernate (set on the power button). I don't use sleep because the battery is worn out so it wouldn't last long.

I find a Restart from time to time can clear some problems and I have a laptop that occasionally needs a full shutdown, rather the Windows 8 "fast" version, to make the Wifi work again.
