Scientists uncover frozen mammoth, blood flows out

Thanks, Shawn. A nice break from the "usual" news.

As all science, I find this fascinating as well. I remember watching a video named "Raising The Mammoth".

I don't think they were successful in extracting DNA from this beast. Perhaps they'll have better luck this time. From what I understand they would clone this via an elephant, then eventually breed the elephant out in subsequent offspring.

This project would make some millions. I for one would pay to go see such a beast. I'm hoping they'll be careful, though, for sometimes "its not nice to play with Mother Nature" as we saw in Jurassic Park.

Lol! I'd be curious as to what to meat would taste like. I enjoy Beefalo myself.

    They should be really careful.

Frozen bacteria can reanimate & multiply.

A mammoth that died from a disease could introduce that disease into the modern world in theory.

There is probably nothing to worry about though.

Yes. Scientifically worry is one thing, but probably is another. Let's hope they test everything thoroughly before making any vital decisions.

    Uh oh

What if they found a human in the same sort of condition?

Any qualms about trying to clone him/her?

That what I was thinking too, you don't play around with Mother Nature like that. I don't believe there is a niche available anymore for wooly mammoths to survive other than an artificial environment.

    One would be nice though.

My personal opinion is that we have gone too far in somebranches of science. I have a big problem with Cloning. We better be verycareful.
