Both Blogger and WordPress are nice and easy to use beginner's blogging platforms. Both are free if you do not need your own domain but are instead satisfied with an URL like for instance YourNameHere.wordpress.com.

Blogger is owned by Google, WordPress is working closely together with Microsoft.
