Before Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, basically anything that Microsoft "tried" to advert sucked hard. SO hard. I think that is agreeable.

But now, geez, they got their poop in a group this time around! There are some new Bing commercials and I have to say, they are simple and get a point across and are just fun! They made me smile.

“Anything you can do, I can do better” isn’t strictly true though.

I don’t mind Bing and in fact some things such as Bing Image search (as you can turn off censoring) and Bing Birdseye view can be better than Google’s. However, Bing doesn’t offer things such as HTTPS, widespread Street View coverage, reverse image search, archived historical newspapers or a custom date range search, the latter being quite a biggie for those of us who regularly search for content within specific date ranges.

So, Bing’s not quite there yet and it seems that no matter what search engines I try, whether it be Yahoo, Bing, IXquick, StartPage, DuckDuckGo, etc. I always end up back at Google. With the exception of Topsy, as it’s pretty much the best Twitter search tool I’ve found so far.

I use WebCrawler and Alta Vista.. Sometimes I have to command line and use Archie though.

I've tried them too, but Google seems to be the only search engine that allows a custom date range search.

There is a date range on Bing, but not as far range as google's though.

For me it does not personally matter, who here has done the bing it on challenge? I have done it three times and the results are hit and miss on the search engine that won.

I've done it a few times, google won a round, Bing won the other, and the other was a draw.
