Fixed (upgraded my 1st iMac last weekend)

My buddy from church asked me if I was willing to replace the hard drive in his 24" iMac (2008 vintage) with a Samsung 256GB SSD. I did the work last weekend and although it was my 1st Mac upgrade, it wasn't too difficult. I followed the instructions in and a few youtube videos, which helped a lot. Windows 8.1

The older iMacs are pretty easy to repair. the new ones are practically welded together and (at least for a couple models) require a proprietary hard drive. I replaced the hard drive in my 2006 iMac I think three years ago and it's still chugging along. I can't get the video driver installed into Windows 8, so it's still stuck on 7 until I find the complicated method I used to install the video driver in 7 (the ATI X1600 doesn't officially support 7 or 8)

But then I realized I'd need nitrile gloves, lots of tarp, and possibly burn whatever it touches as I do not want that filth in my house.
