"This is the future!"

We've come a long way in 65 or so years. I think these concepts aren't too far off if economies continue to get and stay healthy.

I'm sure most of you saw this, but I thought I'd post it anyway. We've come a long way from when this was produced in 1992.

I agree with you there. None of these technologies can happen without programming code.
Agree on code, but would it not be possible for a computer to write the code to use as it's going along. Something on the order of artificial intelligence. Remember we're talking about the very near speed of light.

    Absolutely nothing is impossible.

Computer processors and software compilers have been doing the work for years. But someone has to write the compiler to translate ascii code to binary which addresses the hardware. If you are talking about holographic concepts like the holodeck in star trek, that's cool, but most of us will not be here. Artificial intelligence borders on terminator possibilities (the movie). AI exists in some primitive form now, but all this stuff depends on economic reality. How about IRobot?

Well, do you think hmmmm, xyz or swd3 will ever like the metro?

    Yes, I agree.

The terminator way is just a possibility. This is mostly because of the human fear in the matter. It can turn another better ways as well. But the most intelligent species (man or machine) has the right to evolve further.

Self programming code? That is still a dream. Man still has to do the hard work and we're not even close to the speed of light yet.

Honestly, the way Microsoft is rapid releasing their code, the 2019 video might not actually be that far off. Interesting as I didn't realize that one was released in 2009, which kind of suggests Microsoft was heading the metro route obviously when they started work on Windows 8. The neat thing I saw in that one is in the board room scenario where some people were doing collaborative work with the HUGE touch display, that was OneNote with the Radial menu UI!

Also, one day I wish to have a house where I have one room, where it has nothing but glass windows for walls....

So that way, I can run Windows on my windows!

No disrespect intended, but, I just watched all 4 videos on this thread. Wow... pure science fiction. And life styles of the rich and the rich. If civilization survives, (that's if) I doubt that level of advance would exist in 50 years. And if so, only in very tiny elite wealthy cultures. I mean, really, most of the planet has 3rd world status, and to think that humanity will rise to that level is not realistic. All those toys cost money. One does not need a $10,000 monitor to check the news and weather. Or a classroom that costs millions of dollars. In the 1950's and 60's we were expected to have highly advanced space travel capabilities by the year 2001. We can't even build a human transport pod to get to the moon today. Who can afford all this unnecessary tech? Our culture is devolving into the demolition man model (the movie). What about the 3rd world? Billions. They do not need touch devices. They need food and water and a job. Are we talking star wars tech here. Interplanetary space travel, time warp and wormholes? Star trek supposedly evolved the entire planetary culture such that everything was the same, no distinction between races, cultures or countries. And they apparently did away with money. So now we are talking 300 to 500 years into the future.
The future? The future for whom? The wealthy and healthy.

Agree. As an old Hippie type I could write a thesis on what you just posted. I changed my avatar instead. I'm sure you get the gist.

To keep it short, an ideological song authored by a man who ironically died a violent death like so many of his kind. He was certainly not the first to bring it to our attention looking through history. There were many more both male and female. Yes, when we do away with ALL OF OUR prejudices then we'll get somewhere as a species IMHO. If there's one character defect I dislike within myself it's most certainly that!
