Just noticed that I have been using windows 8 as my main system for 2 years.
Started with Build 7850 on 13th April 2011.
I really like it and I installed a start button on one of my computers and had to try to remember how to open programs etc.
I think I will stick to the Modern UI.

In the alpha days I used to dual boot it along with Windows 7. I've been using it as a production system since build 8250 (CP).

Back when with the alpha leaks, I played around with those and poked around EVERYWHERE. The Classic theme had some new animations when searching with the start menu (ick) and connecting to wifi. Wow, what a turn it took with the Developer Preview!

I've been personally running Windows 8 as a daily OS, LITERALLY, since September 2011 with the DP forward. My body is fatigued from doing clean installs of Windows every few months along with programs, I want to just sit down and enjoy it!

But I'll still play around with the leaked 8.1 builds.... :geek:

I am finding it hard to work effectively in Windows 7 now whenever I get to use it

I didn't bother with any of the betas this time, not like when 7 was just starting, but since getting a new Notebook which came with 8 I spend more time on that than I do on my Windows 7 machine. I haven't bothered putting 3rd party Start buttons on as I'd much rather learn to use it as it was intended. I've not missed it, OK still finding my way around the new OS but I like it.

There are still some things I can only do on the Windows 7 machine but that's because I haven't got round to putting them onto the 8 machine. ;)

I've been using 8 since December on a desktop without regret. Other than it was my intention to avoid 8 until a pc was gifted to me with 8 installed.
I bought 2 of $39 upgrades and wish I would have bought 1 more because I forgot about a little 10" netbook with XP installed.

Whatever MS does with updates, Blue etc. I hope a start button is not forced upon us.
Like everyone else, I've found many ways around 8. The most used is 'Brinks All Apps'
The icons are about 1/6 size of Start screen icons and 6 times larger than traditional start menu icons. Plus I can scroll right when necessary without right clicking and clicking on All apps in lower right. Or typing anything to invoke the Search bar.

I'm quite content not going directly to desktop for several reasons.

I've also used Windows 8 as the default OS on my current laptop and my old laptop for around 2 years now and rarely open up Modern UI apps and love my Start8 start button which makes it usable. Metro apps are just a frustrating mess for me. I hate the way they take up the entire screen and the only way to really close the app is to kill it via task manager. So far, I haven't been able to find one Metro app that can take the place of its web/real application counter part. But then again, I might use my laptop differently than most. I use it to either work with SQL stuff in either Windows 8 directly or Hyper-V [have around 10 clients installed] or to RDP into work. In my downtime, I will play a little game, get on FB with it, or watch a movie while the wife is watching yet another singing/dancing show. Hyper-V is by far the best feature I've found on it and is worth the hassle of its other faults.

Downloaded and installed RP back in early 6/12. EE in 11/12. Now my final OEM System Builder 8 Pro for about 6 weeks now. All dual booting with 7, for I need to update my Office 2000 and other software, I don't trust new OSs (although 8 is fast and stable), and I'm continuing to learn 8.

I know the OS for the most part, but learning how to use the Store apps more. If I have business I'll boot to 7, but as soon as I'm done I'll boot over to 8 to check emails, for I like Windows Mail app much more than WLM by far. I read news in news apps, play game apps, load pics off my phone, surf/post the forum in IE10, etc. I'm in 8 most of the time lately.

Looking forward to the day I can press Enter and "BINK" the 7 partition. :)
