Do you participate in CEIP?

I'm wondering how many members participate in the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) that Microsoft offers upon installation. Either way, what are your thoughts on the program?

Personally I have always opted to participate. I think it to be a good way for MS to collect user data to improve their products. As a building business owner I'm always looking to improve on building materials/products/components, building techniques, efficient design, and the likes. I research these items quite often.

In researching the ever controversial change of the Start Screen and All Apps over the Start Orb/Start Menu system I found that most did not use the latter. Here's a thread started by SGT Oddball back on October 4, 2011, which explains MS's viewpoint:

Their analysis of data of the Start Orb/Start Menu system and conclusion to change it along with the need to create a personalized launching pad for touch, the introduction of more types of mobile devices, introduction of their Store with Modern apps, and an attempt to create an OS to run across multiple devices in conjunction with Windows phone 8 explains to me why they chose to introduce all the new changes within 8. I think it to be a rather ingenious system. I think it to be one better than any of their competition puts out.

I guess pretty much yes, as I never went through to disable anything of the such in Windows 7. None of my many several installs of 7 had that. None such with Windows 8 either.

It's how a product like Windows used all over the world can be given feedback to Microsoft on how it's used. They recently said that most people in less than two hours figure out the whole gist of Windows 8 in one session, that's CEIP in action. They will know how many people will have a start menu replacement on Windows 8 out of all the whole portion of those users. They will know how many people pin things to their Start Screen. But we ALL know what they're going to be changing in the Blue update...

I always leave that stuff on.
