Last month I upgraded to Windows 8, and I noticed that apps weren't starting. So then, not fully knowing what I was doing, I used the Refresh option. The refresh "takes a few minutes" but it took about 30-40 minutes to complete. Anyway, after it was done, EVERYTHING WAS GONE which lead to two hours of looking for file recovery programs and restoring them. After everything was done restoring, just about everything was corrupted and beyond recovery. Luckily I used previous backups and other devices to get my stuff back, but this was just unacceptable.
Hi, when you do refresh win erase everything, I can't keep only your personal settings. Best way is to do clean install Windows 8, install all your apps again and backup. It worked In my case. For backup go to control panel-recent files, and in lower left corner you have Windows 7 backup, do a system image backup....
