You guys missed some fun by our house on Saturday

Hey everyone. You guys missed some unusual excitement that occurred Saturday by our house. Not the typical thing we have to put up with on a weekend afternoon.

So I go down into the basement storage room to get some toilet paper. I come back out, am about to go back upstairs, but something catches my eye on the left. I look, and then it dawns on me ... there is a SQUIRREL in the basement!!

So yeah, the little guy was running all over the place, up on the counters, underneath the treadmill, nearly knocked over some valuable stuff. He hid in the corner of the kitchen for a while behind a mixer, but then came back out. My brother had to come over with a net, and after about twenty minutes of chasing the thing, we finally caught him and let him loose outside.

I felt bad for the poor little thing. Not really sure how he got in. We considered the chimney, but we don't see how considering that it's all sealed off. My theory is that he snuck in the garage/kitchen door when we didn't notice.

Fun times!

LOL, I bet that was a ton of excitement.

Never had the pleasure of trying to catch a squirrel, but plenty of mice and bats.

LOL, love those videos. I think they may have over-reacted in the second one, though.

We had 3 suirrels in the attic. They got in and out thru the duct thru which the AC wiring and piping ran to the outside unit. They were chewing on the wires in the attic and we lost the phone line. I had to get a wildlife catcher. He put up traps and caught them and let them out on his own vast property. He then foamed the duct and the problem was solved.

Yeah, as cute as they may be, the little guys can be destructive at times as well.

That had to be an adventure! I've got a skunk in the backyard that will go to skunk heaven as soon as I catch him and can get a clean shot. I just don't want our dog to find the skunk first!

You don't want to kill the poor animal. Skunks are harmless and cute. They make good pets. As long as the dog leaves it alone, it will be no harm. And they 'loosen' the lawn looking for food, LOL

I'll never forget the time when my dad and I were sitting on the back patio, when all of a sudden, a momma skunk with about six or seven babies tip-toed out of our neighbor's bushes and across our yard. I think that was the largest ... group of ... uh, skunk sighting I've ever seen (what do you call a family of skunks?).

Skanks? A group of skunks is called a surfeit.

If my long since passed on to better places dad was there that squirrel would have been supper.

I considered that, but we weren't sure how to prepare it...

Many years ago I use to hunt squirrels with a friend, whose mother would fix them for us. I distinctly remember they tasted very good.

Oh my. I would not eat a critter. I cringe when I see a lobster. But as long as I do not see his head I will eat it
