    For Windows:

    8
    7
    Vista
    XP
    Server 2003
    2000
    98 SE
    95

I would say my worst experience was definitely with Windows 98, and recently with Windows 8. Those are the only two Windows versions that have given me a lot of problems.

You can usually tell the age of a person by the number of OSes they have used. Not always, but generally.
Some of these lists are longer than my index finger. Not to point anyone out!

    Noticed that too!
    80's and below may have Windows 95-Windows 2000 + Windows Me-Windows 8, where as 90's may only have Windows Me-Windows 8.

8-While not a bad OS, worst out of the bunch.
    2000
    98SE

    ME-The worst.
I've been a few bad comments about ME, what was wrong with it, surely it had to be better than Windows 95 and 98, I remember Windows 95 always crashing in the middle of doing something and losing your work. If I remember rightly Norton used to have a product call Crash Guard which would try to prevent crashes.

Honestly, I don't know if I can pick a worst. Maybe an era, like before the NT kernel merged with the consumer version of Windows. In other words, I seem to remember that during my 3.1, 95, and 98 days, crashes were a little bit more common than they are now. Finally with XP things really started to become rock solid.

Of course, people were quick to blame Windows itself. I mean, even back then, if you knew how to take of your machine and didn't have faulty hardware, things weren't that bad, at least not in my opinion.

And believe it or not, I remember briefly running either 1.0 or 2.0 on my IBM PC/XT clone in the late '80s. Since I only had a CGA adapter, it was running in black and white for crying out loud. I don't even remember how I acquired it ... it's quite possible my brother brought home a copy from work or school. But all I could think of was, "Uh, okay ... what IS this? Is this supposed to make my life easier than DOS?" I mean, the clock looked kind of neat, but other than that? And it was slow ... but of course, so was my computer. I pretty much ended up ignoring it and didn't keep it on my itty-bitty 20 MB hard drive.

I guess I didn't really get GUI at the time, even though not long after that I finally got a Microsoft Mouse and started playing with Deluxe Paint and stuff like that.

    Windows 8.1 'Ultimate' RTM 64 bit (Pro/WMC).

Currently owned (most are installed on one machine or another, or in VMs).

DOS (several versions from 3.0 to 6.22, not all MS)
Windows 3.1 3.11 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11
    Windows 95 & Windows 95c
    Windows 98SE
    Windows NT 4 SP1
    Windows Millenium Edition
Windows XP Home SP1 and Pro, no SP
Windows Vista Ultimate (no Service Packs yet), and Vista RC1
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 32-bit and all official betas
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Windows 8 Ultimate (Pro 64-bit + WMC) and all official betas

Plus several non-MS operating systems as well.

Win 7 would be my pick, but I didn't really dislike any, except for ME, which I now have running sweetly with very few issues on a P3/733.

    Wenda.
