many have heard about Vizio releasing tablets based on the Hondo which pairs an AMD APU that's faster than Clover Trail/Atoms on the CPU/GPU side but weaker than mobile Core processors (but with better battery life than Core processors but worse battery life than Atoms).

now they have a new Temash chip coming out, again adding performance options between Clover Trail and Core:
AMD shows off a reference device with a quad-core, x86-based Temash chip

a tablet that has the power to run hardcore games? pretty impressive

All told, it promises 50 percent more performance than AMD's Hondo processor. I just wish I could pair the Intel CPU with the AMD graphics! Intel graphics have yet to show good performance outside of desktop operations.

here's the Hondo chipset in action:

NOTE: this video is not the upcoming Temash chipset! No videos of Temash out yet.

AMD also announced at CES that they have a dual or quad core x86 SoC. Lower cost, better for tablets and laptops. Now THAT, is a game changer on the mobile front. Combine aspects of ARM, aspects of x86, you have an AMD chip. Also, combine aspects of a CPU and a GPU, you have an AMD APU. :)

I'm always skeptical of anything AMD promises. Especially after the massive letdown that was bulldozer.
