    Any home theater fans here?

I have nothing elaborate, but do enjoy what I have at home.

Just pulled the trigger on a new Marantz receiver to replace my 6 year old Harman kardon and cannot wait for it to come in. Will be awesome to actually hear what my blu Ray movies are supposed to sound like.

So, anybody else have any interest in this stuff?

Yes - tho I haven't changed mine in quite a while. It works fine as it is.

Perhaps I am not so interested as I was. Have had the Yamaha amp and a good set of speakers for quite a while. I don't sit and watch movies as much as before.

I am upgrading because I need more hdmi inputs and my old receiver has none. Seems a shame to have advanced sound on my blu rays, but not be able to decode it.I went with a new Marantz model because I like the minimalistic look.

I'm building now a new HTPC, that will be control by my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Phone , the MSi command center is amazing, l can even OC from my PC from my phone, but look it as a Media Center remote. My Galaxy is also equip with a Remote Desktop Program, so I can do everything for the phone

Do you have an amp or other high end sound system to power it?

Me. lol I'm a McIntosh guy, Made in Binghamton, NY USA 1 MC275 tube amp pair with 2 x MC601 , is this enough high end for you ? Those are my Fat Boy HD , they get value with time.

When I start the Marantz was made in California

But this will not be connected on my PC, to much distortion. I use Cerwin Vega for the TV room.

I am still using my old Phillips home theater system (about six years old), albeit after getting myself a Sharp 70" Aquos for Christmas I have been looking a new Sony home theater system. Just haven't had the heart to deep six the Phillips as of yet. . .

About 7 years ago I got my first flat screen TV ( Samsung 50" DLP) and also a Sony sound system. 5 speakers plus a Bass unit. Also a 5 disk DVD/CD player. Don't use it much as the wife doesn't like it load. But she is going out of town next week so I will crank it up. Has more options then I need but its nice to try the different settings and change the sound effects to match what I am playing.

If we want to talk about old, I'm still using my hi-fi system from 1992!

Although I think it is time to upgrade soon, need some HDMI inputs/outputs to easily switch around, as well as surround sound speakers. Can't find any that can work with my old system. Also, it seems to be crapping out from time to time.... Sad day.

Technology advances fast in these areas. I appreciate old 2 two channel audio, but for surround sound and home theater stuff, you gotta upgrade from time to time. I almost went with separates this time, but loved the look of the new Marantz and it saved me some money.

Just My opinion.. Windows in the Win8 version is not suited for home use any longer. It is overly complex, and, even for experienced Windows users, it is counter intuitive in many areas. I think Windows 8 has taken complexity “one bridge too far” for ordinary users. This comment by me, a MSEE...
