Happy Hanukkah, or as my 19 month old son says, "Hooka!". (Yet, he can repeat "nes gadol hayita sham" - go figure)

Thanks My wife and I both believe in speaking to children as if they were adults - and by that, I mean using "normal" speech instead of "baby talk." We tell him what things are we talk to him about where we're going, etc. We even say the last part of blessings over food and drink when we give him meals and snacks. While we certainly don't expect him to actually do anything now, we figure if sitting with mommy and abba at the table on Friday night and hearing the blessings over Shabbat, hearing blessings, etc are part of his normal life, then as he gets older, he'll be used to it all.

Of course, now he loves to say "Hooka! Present!" because we've been giving him his gifts after lighting the hanukia.

Great aspect on parenthood, Kebero! Good for you and your wife! I believe there is no greater gift one can give to a child than to teach them the spiritual realm of life no matter what one believes. My kids are grown. They may not believe the same way I do now, but they believe there is a God. It is comforting for me to know that.
