I ordered 2 27" monitors from Newegg and one was severly cracked upon unboxing. The box was undamaged though so how the screen was so badly damaged is surprising. At least my undamaged one looks great. Why newegg ships monitors in only the retail box is perplexing.

That stinks. Hopefully you'll have no issue with the RMA to get a replacement.

Luckily I got the RMA without issue, I just now need to drop it off at a UPS Store. This is one of the downsides of ordering a monitor online. But I've had to RMA things to Newegg plenty of times and everytime no issues with that process. I was just really surprised the screen was badly cracked. I didn't see it until I powered it on though. It was DOA for sure. The box was clean and unscathed.

That's better than the experience I had: I ordered a monitor from an online site and all I got was the flat screen display component itself. It took several increasingly hostile e-mails before they finally gave me an RMA number. Even then they didn't credit me the entire purchase price even though the error was on their end. What they advertised and what they sent were not the same thing. I'm still trying to get it all straightened out almost two months later. I never got an acknowledgement of the order, nor a receipt for the order or return. Needless to say, they won't get my business anymore.

(This wasn't newegg or Amazon, but a retail computer center with the name of a major US city on the west coast.)

I'll be calling them next week. I wound up finding the monitor I wanted from an online auction site, and bought it from an individual. He sent me the real thing, and though it's "used" it works fine and looks like new.

Many items can take abuse if shipped in the retail box. I agree with Brink, someone had to drop it pretty hard.

Yea, I think it's a combination of mishandling and the monitors design and the styrofoam packaging design used. This monitor is really thin. It's touted as having a frameless or bezel-less design so theres little rigidity to it. Here's a link to it at newegg. The actual panel is relatively delicate internally. I see ones like this from today very often.

Well got the new one week and half back and very satisfied. Both monitors look great. Anyone looking for IPS 27" monitors and don't absolutely need hi-res(these are 1080) definitely worth it.
Honestly I don't think you'd be able to see a significant difference in resolution if you actually use hi-res wallpaper And in general I don't really notice any issue with it. Except when viewing anything low res. That's when it becomes glaringly annoying.
