I heard this on the Windows Weekly podcast, that the device does NOT charge via USB...you have to instead use the magnetic wallwart plut. That really stinks.

Can anybody confirm or deny this.

Yes, this is the case. The USB port provides power out, but does not accept power in.

You also need a capacitive pen (purchased separately) in order to have handwriting recognition.

No media center, no silverlight, only whitelisted flash sites. It's like hardware parental controls

    HaHa,

During this podcast, Leo was astounded that RT has no mechanism built in to backup the device. Paul started to explain how PC Reset and Refresh works and how it works if your data is in the cloud. Then Leo asked him if his data was in the cloud in Skydrive, and Paul said it was not.... he keeps his data local. So, Leo said how do I back up the local data???. And Paul says after a few second pause, You Can't Leo. Leo said, Microsoft has a new strategy, "YOU CAN'T"

Leo says, "I'm sorry I cannot use a computer that I cannot back up, not for anything that is serious"

Love listening to Leo because he changes his opinion every few seconds of how awesome something IS, or is NOT.

Given you can plug in any number of USB and SDXC flash devices, you can back data up quite easily if you don't use a cloud storage solution.

Sure you can drag and drop fills around, but a built in backup option works be nice.

I really don't see it as a problem.

Yes arm processors. I don't like my devices, especially at 500 and up to be limited. Might not bother some, might be a showstopper for others.

I don't get it, it's Windows RT. It's the ARM variant of Windows and that will of course entail a limited feature set that wouldn't be in Windows 8 Pro. For 500 dollars though, compared to other tablets running ARM systems at that price, it's a killer deal. You have a tablet built and designed of the highest quality, software that is superb, and capabilities both hardware and software that isn't there on equivalent ARM tablets.

    Just get a Surface Pro...
