I speed, it's my moniker. (given to me, not taken). But going too slow can get you killed, and in my city, going below the speed limit on freeways is askin' for it.

LOL! I used to live in Austin and what you speak is the truth When I moved accross the Red River it took me a little while to adjust. Things are just slower up here....

    Then you understand COMPLETELY!

I think there's a stretch of road between Austin and San Antone that they just upped the limit to 80 or something?

    edit, uh, make that 85!

I have driven through Texas from north to south and it takes almost as long to come from my home state of Minnesota to the Texas border as it does to go from the border down to the Rio Grande Valley. So the increased speed limits in Texas are very welcome!

Hi spddemun. Welcome to EightForums. Good to have you!

 on the 85. It should be that way on all super slabs. We can't get going that fast here in Ill-in-noise before hitting another $toll booth$!

BTW, did you misspell your user name? Shouldn't it be speedman?

Short answer is maybe. I try not to attract too much attention to myself by driving like I have a brain. It usually works out for me.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been on the 7 Forums for a bit, but there is more to learn with 8, like the legal hacks to make it do what you want.

It stands for speed demon, that's what family named me.

I saw an article where the first death crash was reported on the 85mph highway, is that the same one? edit, never mind, I see you're not IN TX!

I know the news is all over this speed limit story, but that stretch of road is not like a regular freeway situation. People die in crashes every day, and many have nothing to do with going too fast.
