    BSOD with code DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

    Hello!

Today I started having problems in my HP Laptop, with Windows 8 Release Preview

The screen went black for some seconds then recovered, and a tooltip popped up with the message "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 296.65 stopped responding and has successfully recovered".
This started happening again some more times and then one of the times the screen remained black for longer and finally it stopped in a blue screen of death with the code DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, restarting after it.

During the rest of the morning I tried some more reboots but after a while (opening only a browser or the control panel) I would get the black screen again (but no more BSODs), sometimes the Nvidia tooltip and then a new restart.

I didnt touch the machine for the afternoon, but I am now logged in for four hours and had no more problems.
The logs can be found attached to the post.

    Can you please help me?

    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,

    Ricardo.

Quite simple. NVIDIA driver failed because of interference from one or more of the following drivers. Update them to latest:

    rimmptsk rimmptsk.sys Thu Jun 25 03:58:09 2009 (4A432E11)
    rimsptsk rimsptsk.sys Thu Jun 25 03:10:46 2009 (4A4322F6)
    rixdptsk rixdptsk.sys Thu Jun 25 03:25:57 2009 (4A432685)
    HpqRemHid HpqRemHid.sys Wed Jul 11 11:30:21 2007 (4694F78D)
    netwlv32 netwlv32.sys Mon Aug 16 10:26:04 2010 (4C694A7C)
    ATSwpWDF ATSwpWDF.sys Tue Nov 24 09:01:43 2009 (4B0BE747)

Recommend to get rid of the Avira in safe mode too with the special tool and instead use Windows Defender, as it was definite culprit in your previous bsods. Enjoy.

As described in this other post, the problem and other related issues were apparently caused by overheating!

    Thanks for your support.
