Solved Computer keeps freezing and having blue screens

It seems like HP's advice of wiping out my computer and reinstalling windows was not helpful, as now the same problem I had last year, is happening again this year. BlueScreenView says the problem is with ntoskrnl.exe

Also my internet keeps on disconnecting so I have to restart, so I think the wireless antenna is damaged, which is the same thing that happened last year.

What's the point of fixing a computer if the same problems keep coming back?

Im not a BSOD analyst in any way, but until someone who is jumps in here to help you, i can at least point you to other possible issues that bring the blue screen..

Have you booted the system in safemode with networking?
if it works fine in safemode, then the problem is most likely a driver or a running program issue, and you can narrow down by process of elimination with msconfig and temporarily disable non-microsoft services and startup programs and run windows in normal mode.

But before that i would check your network card first, since you are having issues with that. is it wireless or wired? disable the driver in device manager.


if still BSOD, then physically remove the network card, stick, or cable depending on how you are connected to the internet.

Then try unplugging all connected devices besides KB and Mouse and Monitor.

lets start there before we go too deep..

I just remembered there is a program i used years ago, i recently found it again on an old drive called WHOCRASHED
this program reads your crash dump file, and shows you in plain english what file caused the problem.

Please make sure that your Windows installation is up to date, install all updates that Windows Update provides.
In case of the question 'all updates? also the optional?', install all updates available including optional onces. Many updates provide fixes for stability issues (both critical and optional onces).

I know this is an old thread but I just saw this now so I have to post this for future readers. In September or October 2018 Microsoft gave me a critical windows update, not the important or optional ones you usually get, and it removed the virus from my computer. It stopped all the blue screens, the internet constantly disconnecting or failing to detect wifi networks, and it also improved the speed. I also don't have to keep reinstalling the wifi driver every few days.

If Microsoft had to remove something from my computer to fix the problem, then in hindsight, what I think happened was that when I went to Currys/PC World in 2016 to get my laptop repaired, while the insurance (technically extended warranty) company took it off to the repair centre to get repaired with a 7 day wait, they put a virus on my computer. Looking back, it happened shortly after I got my laptop back from being repaired. As they were in close proximity of my computer and not me, it's impossible to know exactly what they did to it. But Microsoft told me that the virus they removed had a keylogger that would record my screen and website visits and give me a fake hosts file that would redirect popular websites to fake websites that looked convincing while the hosts file would look normal when opening it in Notepad.

So I have to thank Microsoft for removing the virus. Whether they patched the vulnerability for other windows users, I don't know so I can't comment on that.
