Hi,

I'm getting frequent random BSOD Power_Driver_State_Failure on my ASUS G551JM Laptop (https://asus.com/support/Download/3/714/0/2/SOWE1eRbVetG02i5/41/) It happens while plugged in and running off battery but more frequently on battery power. It usually happens within 30 minutes of powering on the laptop or waking it up from sleep/hibernate. It primarily happens after logging into windows but on rare occasion will blue screen prior.

I've updated drivers from Asus and chipset manufacturers websites: intel rapid storage driver, Intel MEI driver, Intel INF driver, Intel wifi and bluetooth drivers, clean installed nvidia gtx 860m drivers. I tried to update intel HD graphics drivers but got this error message:
Computer Manufacturer Graphics Driver Detected. Your computer manufacturer customizes the drivers that run Intel components on your machine. You might lose functions and cause other technical issues by installing the Intel drivers.
Windows updates are up-to-date and no virus or malware.[FONT=&amp]

Please help,
Thank You.

Hi Axe,

First thank you for the quick response!

The nvidia drivers from asus are from 2014 version 333.60 (current 368.81) will there be a negative impact to graphic performance?

I installed the asus nvidia drivers, I'm going to try to induce a bsod and get back to you.

Thank you!

Standard answer: drivers from laptop manufacturers are usually altered causing that the user is kind off forced to install those drivers. Other drivers may cause problems due to this alter part.

I understand I'm asking because I game quite a bit on my laptop and some drivers are optimized for games.

I understand, but stability comes before performance with BSOD issues. If the BSOD issues are gone with the ASUS drivers you can install any driver you want (preferrable none from driver update programs of course :) ), but I would recommend to create a system restore point prior installing any other driver :)

I havent had any bsod issues but I havent been using my laptop that much these past few days. I'll prob just stay on the asus drivers and I created a system restore point!

Thank you for your help Axe!
