Tests

Tests have been done - I've attached a word document with screenshots of the results. Summarised below

Seatools:
SMART: Pass
Short Drive: Fail (this seemed odd - when first running it would get to 90% and hang, then after running again, each time it would fail immediately).
Short Generic: Pass
Long Generic: Got to 100% without failing but didnt 'complete'

HDtune:
Error scan: 1 error - 0% damaged blocks
Health: 1 unstable sector

Chkdisk:
Clear

Are you sure? I mean the HD Tune test only brought 1error, and a number of the other tests were fine. I get the BSOD semi frequently. I had 27 windows updates that needed installing, since I did this two days ago I haven't had the BSOD, so hoping it may be resolved?

Thanks

It isn't just about the single bad sector that HDTune found, the short drive self test in SeaTools failed and the benchmark of HDTune is also similar to hard drives that failed.
It is of course up to you if you would still like to see how it goes for the next period of time which would be for you +- 2 to 4 days.

I let users run multiple tests for the hard drives so I can compare the results and see what the final result is :)

About 2 days ago the BSODs started to occur, do you mean a different period?

thanks for your help.

I've been getting BSOD every day (I thought they were less frequent than this), however yesterday installed 27 windows updates, and since then, the issue hasn't come up again. Could be a coincidence, but wondering if this could have had something to do with it? I hadn't updated in a long time.

I may give it a couple of days to see what happens, but backup my information in the meantime.

I'm looking at replacement HDD's - I can only find ones for this model on ebay so will have to source one from there.

I find WD pretty expensive compared to Seagate or Toshiba who can deliver HDD's that live long for less money.
