Hi

I have a 1 week old Gigabyte P55W laptop. The only programs I have installed are some games (Steam or Origin), Skype, Avast and CCleaner. Today I turned on my laptop and got the BSOD message 'windows encountered an error...'. The BSOD error was 'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'.

Following some advice I saw after a quick search I downloaded BlueScreenView and saw the error was related to ntoskrnl.exe. I have attached the dump file run by following the instructions in the Sticky on this forum. I would be very grateful for any advice - it's kind of concerning that a brand new, supposedly high end laptop is having blue screen crashes after 1 week.

Many thanks
Dom

This driver is part of Avast

Driver Description: avast! Virtualization Driver
Driver Update Site: Support : Avast Software
When googling it it seems a known problem for BSOD this driver seems to be related to the Sandbox feature of Avast.
If it keeps BSODing a workaround seems to be a clean install of Avast without the Sandbox feature.
