    BSOD dpc_watchdog_error

In the past week, I have had multiple BSODs showing a dpc_watchdog_error. Sometimes, my system just freezes up (never shows a bsod) and I am forced to do a hard reboot. It seems these crashes occurred while I am using chrome so I switched to firefox and had the same issue (once). Specifically, I noticed it may have something to do with videos on some webpages (but maybe not). I have searched for solutions to fix a dpc_watchdog_error and chrome freezing computer but nothing seems to work. I have installed all windows updates available, a couple of drivers that people seem to have troubles with (nvidia and realtek) and run diagnostics tools like CHKDSK, CCleaner, etc. Not sure what to do next... any help is greatly appreciated!

I attached my specs and dump files.

    Thanks in advanced,

    Hi NoahTK7,

    Welcome to the 8forums.

The Nvidia Video driver has been flagged in every crash.
Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your manufacturer.

    Still Having Issues

    Hi axe0,

Thanks so much for the quick response last week. I have had a busy week and finally got a break to think about my PC. Unfortunately, I am still having issues. I followed your instructions for uninstalling my nvidia drivers using DDU and reinstalled the drivers last weekend. After doing so, Chrome and Firefox were still both freezing my computer, forcing me to do a force restart. Note: I did not get another BSOD with a dpc_watchdog_error, but I can't imagine that these are two separate issues. Hopefully this doesn't effect you ability to analyse the issue. I repeated the process again just to make sure I hadn't missed anything but nothing changed. I then tried installing different versions of the nvidia drivers, the one recommend by msi, older versions, versions recommended my various forum users, etc. but still no luck.

Also, today I tried to play some CS:GO with a buddy, but the main menu was very "laggy" and had graphical glitches. I wasn't able to get into a game before my system crashed (I don't know what i expected lol). This is to say that it is not just chrome/firefox crashing and it points towards an issue with my graphics.

This leads me to ask this: is it still a nvidia driver issue? and if so, could it be a hardware issue? Any further help is highly appreciated.

I included a new log zip and I also updated my PC specs to the best of my ability right now .

A crash could be 3 things
    • BSOD crash
    • Sudden restart/shutdown crash
    • Freeze crash

This section is for BSOD, but I could of course try helping you with the freeze problem with some basics troubleshooting.
This will be tomorrow in the morning, I am pretty tired and need a fresh pair of eyes and a clean mind before suggesting something.

I recommend removing MSI Afterburner, it is known for causing BSOD's.

Was there anything else active in the background?
