Helo, i have been searching but i cant find solution, so hopefully i can get a help here.
What i do with my pc is usually watching movies, watching streaming, browsing, and playing games.
BSOD sometimes happens while im browsing internet/ streaming /youtubing.
Never BSOD on playing games or watching offline movies.

I use a a program to see the minidump dmp file and ntoskrnl.exe always popping up as the culprit.

BSOD has been happening around 5 times in the span of around 1.5 months.

I attached the zip file below, let me know if you need anymore information.

Thanks.

Hi Melodyazzz,

Welcome to the 8forums..

This is what both most recent dump files are saying.
Code:
Probably caused by : memory_corruption

Please follow the instructions below carefully.

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Helo axe0, thank you for fast reply.

I forgot to mention that in the bug check string is : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, caused by ntoskrnl.exe

I will do the ram test and will let you now asap. Thank you !

The ntoskrnl.exe file is a Windows file that is used in the boot process.
If there are problems with this file, you won't be able to boot.

With the memory_corruption there are 2 possibilities.
  1. Your memory is damaged, giving corrupted data or let programs access memory that is not meant for the program
  2. A driver is trying to access memory that is not meant for it, this is not the fault of the memory.

If the 2nd is the cause and the RAM test result is zero errors, then a 3rd party driver wasn't active at the time the crash occurred and driver verifier is likely needed to find the offensive driver.

FYI, a 3rd party doesn't need to be active to be the root cause.

The issue sounds somewhat serious. I will run the mem test and hope its the 1st cause if anything. Yes, my BSOD is quite random, From the 5 dmp file i attached, it usually occur once a week, or once every 2 weeks. Im sure i didnt run anything peculiar, because i mostly use the pc for entertainment purpose.

I need to find USB stick :D

It isn't as serious is I may have written it.

What I mean is that the ntoskrnl.exe file was the last active, that is why this file is blamed.
Usually Windows drivers aren't the cause, but blamed because they are the last active.
But because usually there is no activity from the root cause, driver verifier is needed to find this driver.

Yes, the instructions for driver verifier is below

Diagnostic Test

DRIVER VERIFIER

Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
Please create a restore point.
Please follow this tutorial to run driver verifier.

Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

Note   Note
Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

Hi axe0, thanks for fast reply.

So i have been reading this, the intention is to BSOD my pc by triggering the driver that causing it.
Why to check only non-microsoft drivers ? I have this suspicion that the culprit is actually the WIFI pci-e driver from microsoft i installed months back.

Because it is rare that Windows drivers are the cause, if they are the cause then they can only be solved by an update package through Windows Update.

You can of course check if your system files are fine by following the instructions in the quote below
Please do the following:
  • Open an admin command prompt
  • Copy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enter
  • When it finished reboot your system
  • Open again an admin command prompt
  • Enter sfc/scannow again

If sfc/scannow does NOT say "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation", please upload the cbs.log file located at {windows partition}\Windows\Logs\CBS\, if the file is too large try a 3rd party uploader like dropbox, onedrive, google drive, mediafire etc.
System File Check(SFC a.k.a. Windows Resource Protection) needs to have your system rebooted in order for sfc to try to fix the problems that it finds.
