Alright, install the drivers, remove them via the device manager and restart the PC. Windows should search the drivers and load them correctly.

After installing, removing via device manager, and restarting, Windows does find the drivers (they are properly listed in the Device Manager under "Display adapters" but the error still persists.

Could there be something else that is preventing windows from loading display drivers after they have been found?

The error code is the same?

Yes, Error code was the same.

I was just now able to fix the problem. I resorted to try a Windows Refresh after backing up a few choice files to an external. Post Refresh, the Drivers no longer have the error code. I can play a video or a game and all is good. Sure, it'll be a few hours of reinstalling some software, but that's a drop in the bucket.

Anyway, thanks so much for your help Axe0, never would have fixed this without ya!

I ignored the first crash but it's happened twice at the same point in CDD.DLL - AddAlphaBlendCommand+0x1c1. First crash was while doing a search across the C: drive for a particular file. Second crash was during a SyncToy file backup. Had no problems for 6 weeks under Windows 8 - crashes...
Hello, I get a BSOD everytime I sign out in Windows 8. The PC was upgraded from Windows 7x64 (was working fine) to Windows 8 Pro x64 (exact same hardware) and I initially also had a BSOD on shutdown (I could "get rid" of that one by turning off the fast start-up). I have updated all the...
