    Various BSOD while gaming

Hi I wanted to get someone else's take on this.

System info not included in my profile:

    USAGE: gaming almost exclusively
CPU: 5820k overclocked to 4.2; stock speeds didn’t help
RAM: 2400MHz XMP (stock) 6 passes of memtest 0 errors
BOARD: ASUS X99A, latest chipset drivers, bios 1401, latest BIOS didn't help; this one is better with my SSD
GPU: nVidia GTX 980 stock speeds, latest drivers, which aren't great
SSD: Samsung XP941 actively cooled and “passed” checkdisk, crystaldiskmark/info, and HDTune
PSU: have used 3 different know reliable PSUs and have had the same issues

I appreciate the help. I bluescreen pretty much every time I use this computer. I don't know maybe games/drivers are just buggy now.

    Hi powerslyde,

    Welcome to the 8forums.

    I have a few questions:
    - Do you know what errors you get?
    - You have done MemTest86+? If not, what other memory test?
    - Where/Who did you ask about the problem and what were there answers? Do you have some links?

I'll take a look at the files as soon as I am home from school within 45min.

I have taken a look at the dumps from this month.

The display drivers and the memory have been blamed.

For the drivers there are 2 things to test to start with.
    1. Check Nvidia site for driver updates.
    2. Disable the nvidia streaming kernel service or the nvidia streamer service in msconfig.

    RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Well, the large variety of errors is what's so confusing. I probably get memory_management and irql_not_less_or_equal the most but there's more. Many seem driver related but it's usually a blue screen/random restart more than a ctd.

    I ran memtest86 overnight.

I haven't asked anyone else about this except the MS support forums simultaneously with this thread.

I have the latest nVidia drivers...I will try the 2nd suggestion when I get home.

When you say memory, could that be video memory?

This time please 8 complete passes, because less is not conclusive which makes it a waste of time.

OK I went through 8 passes with zero errors. So, my ram, PSU, SSD, and CPU seem fine. I just ordered a new card to replace mt 980. The only thing left after that is my board or it's software/drivers.

Not sure what else could cause memory_management BSOD.

We might find the cause with drivers with stressing them out.

    DRIVER VERIFIER

Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
    Please create a restore point.

Please follow this tutorial run driver verifier.

Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

    Note   Note
Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.
