Hello,
I got a new Asus laptop, G551JX DM036H. It was running fine for few weeks until recently. The problem is that when i don't use my laptop charger a BSOD error occurs stating driver power state failure and restarts the system. it doesn't occur in specific time just randomly like sometimes seconds after laptop starts and sometimes half an hour later. i checked online videos and checked all the devices for the yellow mark but there isn't one and this post is my last resort to handle it myself. Can someone please help me out its my project semester and i don't want my laptop to switch off while I am presenting the project in exam.
Thanks

Hi rahulpenn,

Welcome to the 8forums.
As you have a new laptop, do you have all the software that comes with a preinstalled laptop?

If you want you could try a clean install, these software could cause trouble with the performance.
The main reasons why people do a clean install of their windows is:
- To avoid trouble that is caused by the software
- Its in most cases useless software

Also, just uninstalling this software would sometimes not be enough as there are traces left behind that causes trouble.
It is unknown what the software for problems causes. I've seen a lot of problems, also the problem you have and the best solution was a clean install of windows.

Isn't there a specific reason that you can find from the dmp files for my laptop's BSOD problem sir?

Unfortunately not.
The dump files are blaming windows drivers.
A workaround is to enable driver verifier so the drivers are stressed out, this way we see which driver or program is really causing the problem.
Before using driver verifier:

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

I don't recommend upgrading to windows 10.
Most likely, your drivers and software aren't yet full compatible which means that your laptop would only crash more often.

You could try a windows media installation tool for a clean install.

Just an update, someone suggested me to use it in power save mode when not using charger and it works. I have used it for hours without charger in power save mode and it is working flawlessly.

Have you updated the drivers from your manufacturer? In the analyse I saw a few drivers that might have an update available.

In case you get a bluescreen that is caused by an Nvidia service, a possible solution to solve that problem can be found here.

Please try following in an admin command prompt (right click windows logo)
'sfc/scannow' without the quotes.
If sfc/scannow (system file check) reports a problem, reboot and try it again. It might take a few tries in order for sfc/scannow to solve the problem.
If sfc/scannow is unable to solve the problem, please upload the cbs.log file found in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\. If the file is too large use a 3rd party uploader.

If you still have bluescreens, please use the tool again and upload the zip file.

For information, I asked new bluescreens, but not in the way of different bluescreens.

If you still have the software installed that is pre-installed, please remove it.
